I'm looking for prose that soars and sings. I am specifically thinking of the Great Gatsby, the opening line of which almost sounds iambic: "In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since." That sounds so rhythmic to me. So much prose I encounter is minimalist, detached, or clunky. What are some of the best examples of prose that have a beat and pace to you? Thanks.
What are the most "musical" examples of prose?
