It's Eurovision time !

I'm thinking of doing my usual "Eurovision commentry that no one else is interested in" this year. Watch this space!. (Or not.)
To be honest the whole comp is getting too serious - there are countries that actually want the prestige of winning. What's that all about? Ones to watch for are:
Ukraine (9/1) Wonderful melding of East and West tonal traditions with a West end blockbuster presentation.
Georgia (350/1) No compromise. It may be Eurovision, but we're serious rock musicians and this is what we do.
Belgium (100/1) Bubble gum pop - happy! we're all happy.
Russia (4/6) Four to six!!!! Got to be kidding. Or there are those out there who know something?
Australia(11/2) Representing the Aussie nation in exile, spread throughout the pubs and bars of Europe. Good singer. Good Euro song.
Sweden (16/1) Catchy - but they're all catchy.

To be honest it's tough to find distinctions between one power ballad and another, but the Ukrainian entry was the one that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, a slow starter, rubbish lyrics, but very powerful when she opens up with that slightly discordent (to western ears) Turkishness. Interesting.

Let's block ads! (Why?)

It's Eurovision time !
