'Bird Watching in Seahouses'
I never did see a puffin
during my week at the coast,
forgot to book on a boat trip to go out to the islands.
This time I stayed on the dry land
with the tourists and coach trips,
the shops of puffin postcards and countless fish butties
Didn't even see a razor-bill
never-mind a shag or a guillemot,
just the seagulls and sparrows fighting for scraps on the high street.
